Getting Arrested in Pennsylvania

Michelle Hundley April 30, 2021 Reviews Leave a Comment

Getting arrested can happen to anybody. Whether you have a history of convictions or tend to stay on the right side of the law, simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time can put you in a situation where you end up behind bars. Even if you are never charged with a crime, or if you are later acquitted, simply getting arrested is a costly process that often disrupts people’s lives. Jails charge ridiculous fines such as “booking fees”, and of course, bail, too. If you have been arrested and you are in need of bail bonds Harrisburg PA, having access to bail bonds can be a vital resource in helping you reclaim your life.

Most Common Reasons for Arrest

There are plenty of reasons why you might find yourself in handcuffs, in the back of a patrol car. Sometimes people are simply wrongly accused, or perhaps circumstantial evidence paints a picture that isn’t correct. The most common reasons, though, are drug-related offenses, include possession of narcotics, or attempts to sell illegal drugs. These offenses are often caught by undercover cops conducting sting operations or by law enforcement who happens to witness such an exchange. From 2012 to 2016, arrests for drug offenses increased by 20.5% in Pennsylvania, so it is not surprising that so many people are behind bars for this reason.

DUIs and Dangerous Driving

Another reason why Pennsylvanians may find themselves locked up is for suspicion of DUI. Thousands of people every year are arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and these arrests are often made on the basis of a field sobriety test. The validity of field sobriety tests is worth questioning, but when you are arrested, it does not make much of a difference in the immediate moment. It is important to always drive sober so that you can avoid such an arrest and avoid paying bail bond fees to get out.
