Donegal has a ton of things to do for the whole family, so the summer holidays need not be a long and boring affair! Here are some of the top things to keep your kids busy if you’re visiting Donegal this summer:

Coillte Family Outdoor Activities

Here you’ll find some of the best of Ireland’s outdoor family recreation opportunities, be it walking and hiking or mountain biking, family picnics to fishing and watching nature. Coillte attracts more than 18,000,000 visitors to its forests each year and there are 10 forest parks to choose from across the country as Coillte owns the longest network of trails in Ireland. Glowbowl, Bundoran

Glowbowl Amusements is the largest centre of family activities and entertainment in the North West. It is suitable for all ages and offers fun for everyone, whatever the age. It is easy to access, being located centrally in the picturesque sea-side town of Bundoran in County Donegal. The Glowbowl contains 8 lanes of tenpin bowling and the exciting amusements centre has something for all the family.

Donegal – Cave and Maghera Harbour

This magical destination offers dark, mysterious sea caves with a sparkling silver beach, overlooked by wild, craggy hillsides. This place transports you to an enchanted Ireland of old, a wilderness like no other where you can lose a day exploring in this amazing landscape. The road that reaches the caves is to be found on the south shore of Loughros Beg, piercing through steep rock faces where streams fall and bubble to the bottom of the cliffs. The most breathtaking of these is Assaranca Falls.

Glenveagh National Park

Glenveagh National Park is the perfect sight-seeing destination and completely free to visit. Glenveagh is just one of six different National Parks in Ireland and you’ll find it in the northwest of the county, right in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains. The staff here work hard all year around to conserve the stunning flora and fauna of this unique landscape for all to enjoy.

Letterkenny Karting Centre

If you and yours feel like getting the adrenaline pumping, then head to Letterkenny Karting Centre, one of the biggest karting circuits in the whole of Ireland, at a whopping 900 metres in length. Those wanting to participate must be more than 4’6″  to use cadet karts and all the required safety equipment is provided, along with full training.
